Matt Werden is a musician, creative audio producer, and educator based in New York. He has engineered recordings for heavy-hitting musicians such as Tony Trischka and Tracy Bonham, served as Chief Engineer at the legendary LoHo Studios, and worked on hundreds (thousands?) of commercial and experimental projects heard by millions of people around the world.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2003, Matt moved to New York City, where he dove into the exciting music and theater scenes of the mid 2000s. He spent 10 years setting up Blue Man Group shows around the world, tweaking 7.1 mixes in hotel rooms, and running voiceover sessions in many languages that he does not speak. When he was home, he spent lots of time in the Lower East Side and the East Village making recordings and playing guitar.
In 2012 he Co-Founded Space Acres Studios with his most lovely wife, Zarah Cabañas. Nestled in the Catskills, it serves as their creative home base.
In 2014, Matt returned to the education world as an Adjunct Professor at New York City College of Technology. He has also taught at SAE and Trinity School, where he is known for making complicated audio concepts accessible and only explaining the nerdy math parts when his students are sharp and it won't take him too long.
These days, Matt bounces between the Catskills and NYC. He makes records, plays in various music projects, develops revolutionary ideas, and makes plenty of jokes. One time he even acted in a feature film because someone thought he looked like "Young Chuck" and he said yes before thinking too much about it. Matt also started Space Acres Comedy Night, the longest-running standup comedy show in the Catskills, which he plans to bring back as soon as the universe allows.
